Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1) - Jamie McGuire So this is what “New Adult” fiction is? I think it and I are going to get along very well. I absolutely loved Beautiful Disaster. I’m not really sure why I waited so long to read it, but I should have read it sooner. I read about 30 pages when I first bought it while waiting for my husband to do something, I don’t remember what, but I was in the car and was hooked right away. I had to put it down at the time thought because I was behind on review books. Well I just picked it back up and read almost the remaining 400 pages in a day. I just couldn’t put it down! It was so good! The protagonist is Abby Abernathy. She’s hoping to start over in college and get away from her past. You know how it is though, your past always catches up with you and falling for the school player isn’t the best way to make good changes for her. Travis is everything that is bad for her, but he is oh so right for her. I loved him. Seriously. He’s not even my type normally but.. I’m pretty sure I’d give him a chance. Abby is hesitant and they become really good friends. She is not going to be another notch on his belt. I liked that she didn’t get all gushy for him right away. She wasn’t a perfect heroine, she had her flaws, but that’s what made her easier to connect with. She was human.Alright. Talk about some steamy scenes. There are a few times when things get hot and heavy, not too descriptive that it would make you blush, but just right. I might be a bit jealous of Abby. Maybe. The entire story was just amazing. It’s not like a girl meets boy, they fall in love kind of love story. No, anything but. There were tears shed, face hurting smiles had. Sometimes I was just so happy for the characters. The character building was wonderful, the setting was easy to imagine. Jamie McGuire write an amazing story the pulls you in and makes you want more. I might have immediately ordered Walking Disaster right after I finished this one. I need to read it from Travis’ PoV.Overall, amazing book. Probably one of my favourites of the year. I will be recommending it many times I’m sure. I will have to check out more from this “New Adult” genre and see where it takes me.
