Occasionally, I read a book (or in this case, listen) and I wonder why the heck I’ve never read it before. I had so many people tell me that the Night Huntress series was amazing, but I still didn’t read it. I really have no excuse, so when Audible.com had a sale a while ago where you could get 2 books for 1 credit out of a list of books. I nabbed this one, then ended up listening to it almost immediately.My version was narrated by Tavia Gilbert (I’m not sure if there are even different versions, I know nothing about audiobooks) and I found that she did a really wonderful job of it. She wasn’t boring (although all her young men sounded the same, but that’s okay). There were parts where she made things funnier to me than they probably should have been and it wasn’t awkward at all when she was reading sex scenes. I loved her Bones accent, although if it had of been a man actually doing his voice, I probably would have just melted into the ground.Cat/Catherine is pretty unique. She’s a vampire/human hybrid and not in a weird way like in Twilight. This one actually has a decent explaination for her existence (well, Twilight’s isn’t that bad, but this one was still better). I like that she was a kick ass ginger and that she was easy to blush when the topic of sex came up. She didn’t immediately fall for the guy either, it was more of a gradual thing. Not instant-love here, she actually tried to kill him when she first met him. Cat is kind of like Blade really, she hates what she is and kills vampires because of it. Yet, she still has sensitivities, weaknesses that make her human, like her humanity for one. She is just an awesome character.I’m in love with Bones. I now know who he is and every time I see someone talking about him now I can be like “YEAH! I know who he is! *drool*” Yeah. Probably not so much, but he is pretty sexy and sometimes while reading I wished that I was Cat. I mean, I have the red hair right? But then I wouldn’t want to have to deal with the fighting myself. I really don’t know what it is, but I seem to really love vampire men. Clearly I have a fantasy that will never happen, or maybe it has and I was just glamoured into forgetting (I’d like to think that).So yes, I loved this one. I’m not sure if the audio version enhanced my experience or not, all I know it is was a good experience. I think I will try reading the next one and see it it makes a difference, but I will be continuing on in this series for sure and have already begun telling people to read it!
